This beautiful condition example of Renaultsport’s acclaimed Megane R26.R (Radicale) the highly sought after limited edition, ultra-lightweight hot hatchback produced at the end of the Phase Two run. The rarity of this car is confirmed by a search on the DVLA register showing just 75 of the reported 159 RHD cars manufactured remain in the U.K. This particular car is Renaultsport Owners magazine featured, a copy supplied with car, and one of the lowest mileage, superior condition, unmodified cars remaining.
Registered in June 2009 (Cherished Number Plate R2 GRX Included In Sale) and finished in lustrous Deep Black Metallic with Red / Grey R26.R Stickers and Black Speedline Interlagos 18″ Light Alloy Wheels this car has travelled 11850 miles and supplied with a fully documented service history detailing fastidious servicing and maintenance. A folder of receipts and service book with 9 stamps is supplied with the car. Both key cards are present and working. There are a total of FOUR Keepers of which three are Porsche enthusiasts which is typical of the model which has been l described by the most astute motoring journalists as the 911 GT3 RS of Hot Hatches and formerly the lap record holder for FWD cars at the Nurburgring in a time of 8:17. This is the second time the owner has been the registered keeper.
This car presents in exceptional condition with just a few age-related minor touched-in stone chips on the nose cone and some very minor marks on the black alloy wheels. There is minor marring to the clear coat lacquer on the carbon fibre bonnet above the turbocharger but this is a common point doesn’t detract from the car. The original R26.R factory thickness stickers are in great condition and all present on the car, an indication the nose cone hasn’t been resprayed. The headlights are still crystal clear and the polycarbonate rear tinted windows are pristine. Walking around the car the bodywork reflections would indicate this car has not been resprayed.
From new this car was available with a number of factory options of which included are; Titanium (cat-back) Exhaust System, Factory Roll Cage, Black Alloy Wheels, Metallic Deep Black (Noir Profond) Bodywork. This car has not been modified apart from high quality braided brake hoses were fitted in 2015 when the brake fluid was replaced with Castrol SRX.
Inside, this car is as good as new, protected by Renaultsport fitted carpet mats, it still smells as new and is a non-smoker and non-pets car. The expensive lightweight carbon fibre Sabelt deep bucket seats remain unmarked and with no creaking, a fault with these when the car has had a tough life. There is an Alpine Bluetooth CD Tuner fitted and the car is complete with original OEM plastic blanking plate as these came from factory with just radio pre-wiring (weight saving feature). This car may have been used in its life for an occasional track day but not a track fixture like many are.
The car is fitted with four Yokohama AD08R fast road / track day tyres with approximately 4mm of tread remaining.
In 2017 the car underwent a thorough, multi-stage polish and detail by the renowned Ed Staples of Divine Detailing in Coulsdon, Surrey and has a Kamikaze Collection Miyabi Ceramic Coating, this has been topped up in the interim with proprietary products and remains in beautiful condition.
